Once Upon a Time...

It's time for Carl(at Stainless Steel Droppings) to host his spring challenge.  Once Upon a Time V is the second fantasy challenge I have participated in.  Last years Once... was my first.

I have not decided which challenge I am signing up for.  At this time I plan on reviewing the following items.

Movies
Red Riding Hood
Solomon Kane

Television
Highlander

Books
A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle
Red Sonja 1:  The Ring of Ikribu by David C. Smith and Richard Tierney
The Guns of Avalon by Roger Zelazny
Merlin's Mirror by Andre Norton

Other items will be added to the list.  I am not sure what short stories and graphic novels I will read.  The one thing I can count on is that it will be a fun challenge.

A Time of Change

For those who follow SFT, I offer my apologies for not posting recently.  You will see my return this week.

My parents always supported my reading habit.  It was very erratic until I discovered science fiction.  Once I read "The Runaway Robot" by Lester Del Rey, I was hooked for life.  My father built corner shelves in my bedroom to hold my toys.  They were basically cleared off and became bookshelves for the rest of my time at home.  It was not long until I started filling them.

My father said if I read law books like I read science fiction, I would have been a lawyer in no time.  But both of my parents never had a problem with my reading a genre that did not interest them.  They also had no problem with me watching Star Trek.

In 1981, my father passed away.  Earlier this month, my mother's dementia took a turn for the worst.  Last Sunday she departed this world for a better place.  On the same day our computer crashed.  Thursday night our basement flooded.  With the loss of my mother last week, the computer and flooding did not seem important.

I continued reading last week but did not do any reviews.  This week I plan on writing reviews of all the books I finished last week.  I was able to finish numerous books that I had started.
